Kevin Xiao Kunpeng has joined Asia Racing Team’s lineup for the inaugural 2023 Formula 4 South East Asia series, which the Zhuhai-based team is pleased to confirm. The 19-year-old Chinese driver will make his international debut.
The championship spans three exciting events, beginning at Zhuzhou, China, from October 27 to 29. A non-championship race will feature F4 SEA at one of the world’s most challenging racetracks, Macau’s Circuito da Guia, in November. Formula 4 South East Asia will headline the first of two weekends of celebration at the 70th Macau Grand Prix on November 11-12.
Subsequently, the action will shift to Malaysia for two consecutive events on November 24-26 and December 1-3 at the Sepang International Circuit. Each race weekend includes a pre-event test, a 30-minute free practice session, two 15-minute qualifying sessions, and three 25-minute races.
Speaking about his 2023 program, Kevin Xiao said, “I’m very happy to race in the F4 SEA championship with ART. This is my first time racing in a new F4 car and competing on legendary tracks like Macau and Sepang. I’m very excited and hopeful that we can achieve satisfying results after the season.”
Regarding the team’s newest signing, Rodolfo Avila said, “We’re delighted to give Kevin his first taste of the new Formula 4 this weekend. He will undoubtedly face a steep learning curve, but his previous experience in the sport suggests he’s capable of handling it. Making progress with every session will be our goal, and we look forward to seeing what he can achieve.”
