Seventeen-year-old Joaquin ‘Wakkeen’ Garrido will join Asia Racing Team for the second round of the 2023 Formula 4 South East Asia Championship at the Sepang International Circuit in Malaysia.
The Filipino youngster boasts extensive experience in karting in the region, securing multiple wins and titles since his debut in the category in 2015. Joaquin Garrido has also achieved notable success with victories in the Radical Challenge Philippines, Vios Cup, and Formula V1 Race Challenge. Nevertheless, he will be making his first-ever appearance in formula cars this weekend at the former Malaysian F1 Grand Prix venue.

He will be racing with us for the first time, but we know what he was capable of in karting. The Tatuus F4-421 Abarth will be a new car for him, but we are very confident he will be a serious contender for the rookie podium positions over the weekend.”

With guidance from my team, I will try my best to gain as much experience and maximize track time to put myself in the best position for the race weekend!”
