Asia Racing Team and BlackJack Racing returned to the F4 Chinese Championship at the Pingtan Ruyi Lake International street circuit with Marcus Cheong Man Hei.
The Macau youngster rejoined to the wheel of the No. 13 BlackJack Racing liveried Mygale M14-F4 Geely car after his successful single seater first appearance in the F4 Chinese Championship round of Ningbo last May.
Team Manager Rodolfo Ávila said: “It was another learning weekend for Marcus against an opposition with much more experience in this car on a demanding racing circuit. Making progress with every session was our aim for the weekend, and Marcus achieved it. He conquered a podium in the CFGP class, and we know there is more potential to extract from him.”
On Saturday races, Marcus finished both in fifth place, to drop to seventh in the second race due to an allegedly jump start. Unfortunately on Sunday he was involved in two race accidents and couldn’t complete both races.
The team is now shifting its focus for participation in the Formula 4 South East Asia Championship Certified by FIA. The 2023 season, the first since 2019, begins at China’s Zhuhai International Circuit with pre-event testing, free practice, two qualifying sessions and three 25-minute races on October 27-19.
