Brazilian rising star Bruno Carneiro is rejoining Asia Racing Team to contest the 2019 Asian Formula Renault Series Rounds 3 and 4 at China’s Zhuhai International Circuit.
The 19-year-old Utah-resident racer took part in the Asian Formula Renault Series opening round, finishing second in the first race, his first ever race in the category. He quickly became one to watch this season and will be aiming for podium positions on June 15 and 16 weekend on China’s first-ever permanent motorsport facility.
His signing by Asia Racing Team is a reflection of Carneiro’s readiness to race at the front of the grid. Past drivers of the Macau-founded China-based team include Rio Haryanto, Kamui Kobayashi and Kazuki Nakajima to name but a few.
Speaking about today’s announcement, Carneiro said: “I am thrilled to be able to be returning for the second race weekend of the Asian Formula Renault Championship competing with Asia Racing Team. This is an amazing effort made possible by my sponsor Rodizio Grill and my wonderful fans friends and loved ones that have supported me so much! I will be pushing very hard to better my previous second place result and get to the top step with a win.”
Asia Racing Team’s Team Manager Rodolfo Avila added: “We are very excited to have Bruno back in the Asia Racing Team family for the next AFR weekend. Although he didn’t have the best of luck, Bruno impressed during the first round, showing us he had the pace and determination to fight at the front of the pack. We know there is a huge amount of potential for Bruno to be a winner contender.”
Due to the cancellation of the Ningbo meeting, the 13-race Asian Formula Renault Series calendar will be condensed to five race weekends.
