Blackjack Racing will participate in the GT Sprint Challenge (GTSC) race at the FIA Grade 2, 4.319 km Zhuhai International Circuit this weekend. At the team second home circuit, Jack Pang Changyuan and Li Sicheng will share driving duties in a Lamborghini Huracán Super Trofeo Evo 2.
Drivers Jack Pang Changyuan and Li Sicheng are both familiar with GT racing, and with the team. Jack Pang is no one else than Blackjack Racing founder and Team Principal. With extensive experience in GT racing, Jack Pang will be driving the Lamborghini Super Trofeo Asia model for the first time, after securing a podium finish in the Pro-Am Class with the team’s Huracán GT3 during Round 2 of the 2023 China Endurance Championship at Ningbo International Speedpark.
Having begun his racing career in the United States of America, Li Sicheng is also a symbol of the relationship between BlackJack Racing and the Asia Racing Team, having finished on the podium in the 2020 Formula 4 Macau Grand Prix when both teams were merely technical partners. This year he also drove in the opening round of the F4 China Championship at Shanghai. As Jack Pang, Li Sicheng has never driven the Lamborghini Huracán Super Trofeo Evo 2.
Commenting about the GTSC weekend ahead, Jack Pang said: “We were invited to take part in this race by our friends at TopSpeed, and we simply couldn’t say no. I’m genuinely excited to be back in the cockpit, lining up alongside our driver and close friend, Li Sicheng. While we’re here to enjoy the experience, we’re both highly competitive and definitely aiming for podium finishes.”
Li Sicheng added: “It is a pleasure to join the professional team at Pang Chang Park. Our previous collaboration in Shanghai went very smoothly, and I hope we can achieve even better results this time!”
The first permanent circuit constructed in China is 4.3 kilometres long and features 14 turns, of which 9 are right-handers and 5 are left-handers. It is a clockwise circuit. The shorter of the two straights is 500 metres long, while the longest is the start/finish straight, measuring 900 metres in length and up to 14 metres wide. The circuit offers plenty of overtaking opportunities, thanks to the combination of straights, hard braking zones for hairpins, tight corners, and acceleration onto long straights.
With two qualifying sessions on Saturday morning, the first 55 minute + 1 lap race is scheduled for later in the day at 16:00. The second race is planned for Sunday at 13:50 (all times UTC+8).
