BlackJack Racing and Asia Racing Team will once again join forces in the FIA F4 Chinese Championship, the sole national single-seater series in China. The championship is set to introduce the Formula 4 Gen 2 Mygale M21-F4 car in 2024.
Competing under the banner of BlackJack Racing, the team intends to make a full-time return to the series following a successful season debut in the revitalized FIA F4 South East Asia with the second generation of FIA Formula 4 cars. The plan is to participate in the six-round, twenty-two races calendar with three cars.
Launched in 2015, the FIA F4 Chinese Championship has been the platform for introducing new local talents in recent years. With the introduction of the new Mygale F4 car, the championship also aims to establish itself as a competition capable of attracting drivers from all over the world. The access to championship prize money will help to offset the costs of the racing season.
The new cars are expected to arrive in China after the Chinese New Year, and the championship kicks off with the official Test Day in March. The opening event is scheduled to coincide with the return of the Chinese Formula One Grand Prix at the Shanghai International Circuit. The series will then progress to the brand-new Chengdu Tianfu International Circuit, the historic Zhuhai circuit and the state-of-the-art Ningbo SpeedPark International Circuit.
Team Manager Rodolfo Avila stated, “I had the opportunity to test the new Mygale F4 car, and it is the right vehicle to further the development of young drivers transitioning from karting. At the same time, we will, for the first time in a long time, have an F4 car in China that aligns with the standards of the rest of the world. This presents us with the chance to reestablish the platform for the most cost-effective F4 national series, catering to drivers from all parts of the world.”
Jack Pang, Team Principal, added: “Mitime’s ongoing support for the junior formula scene has led us to commit to the upgraded Chinese national series. Our objective in 2024 is to nurture local and overseas talents and deliver unparalleled service and commitment to our clients.”
