Asia Racing Team will enter two SEAT Leon TCR DSG cars in the “Circuit Hero 700km” on the Zhuhai International Circuit next month (7-8 December).
Confirmation of the two-car entry for the races comes after a strong result in the last year’s race, where the Spanish-built machines run by the Zhuhai circuit based team finished first and second in the Class A and conquered an astonishing third place overall.
For the second consecutive time with a 700 km distance, the endurance race is a mix of GT and Touring cars and it is divided into five classes. Asia Racing Team successful SEAT Leon TCR DSG cars join the Class A for Touring Cars with engine capacity over 2,001cc.
For the estimated 4 hour and 45 minute driving duties, the two cars will be split between seven drivers. Asia Racing Team will field the No. 8 Leon TCR with Hong Kong drivers Steven Chen, Henry Yeung and Jacky Wong Yiu Ming. The No. 68 entry will feature former Japanese F3 driver Guillaume Cunnington, alongside ex-Asian Formula Renault Series and Le Mans Sprint Cup driver Sébastien Mailleux and racing debutants Pierre-Yves Philippon and Scott Reinert.
Asia Racing Team’s Team Manager Rodolfo Avila said: “The Zhuhai 700-km remains one of the end of the season highlights of the motorsport in South China. We have a motivating driver line-up, with a mix of amateur drivers and drivers with some international experience, which can take on anything in what we expect to be a very competitive class at the race. Last year we proved to have a good package, but this is a long race and many things can happen.”
The build-up to the big race starts on Friday (December 6th) with technical scrutineering and the single 70-minute official practice. A 30-minute qualifying session on Saturday at 10:30 sets the grid for Sunday’s race at 11:00 (local time GMT+8).
