Pingtan Racing by Blackjack driver Albert Jiang clinched a remarkable victory in one of the four races during the second round of the FIA F4 Chinese Championship at the Chengdu Tianfu International Circuit, firmly establishing himself as a contender in the title race after two exhilarating events this season.
In the opening race of the weekend on Saturday, Albert Jiang had a brilliant start from P3 to P2. Unfortunately, on his way to first place, he went off track in T13. Despite this setback, he managed to recover and bounce back to fourth place overall.
Race two presented more challenges, but a great start saw him move from P7 to P2 in the first lap. Not even a red flag distracted the Chinese driver. The race restart was also successful, taking him two laps to reach first place and defend against Oscar Pederson. This superb win marked the Pingtan Raxing by Blackjack team third win in the championship this season.
In his series debut, Allen Lu successfully achieved his initial weekend goal by completing both races. Demonstrating remarkable composure, he secured third place in the Challenger class and sixth place in the competitive CFGP class.
During the second race, he narrowly avoided a starting pileup, maintaining focus throughout despite feeling fatigued towards the end. Nevertheless, he persevered and skillfully maneuvered his car to a ninth-place finish.
On Sunday morning, the race didn’t unfold as expected for the teams’ entries. Albert Jiang had a rough start and dropped a few places, but he still managed to recover to 4th. Allen Lu spun, causing a Safety Car, but recovered to P17.
The final race of the program concluded under red flags after a collision between the leading two cars, with Albert Jiang finishing in second place. However, the stewards reviewed the penultimate lap, resulting in Albert Jiang being classified as the third-place finisher.
Teammate Allen Lu wrapped up the weekend reflecting on lessons learned and progress made, ultimately securing the 18th position on his first appearance this season in the only national single seater series in China.
After this round, Albert Jiang lies now in second in the Drivers Standings with 101 points, only 9 points shy from the leadership. Pingtan Raxing by Blackjack is now third in the Teams’ Championship.
