The Pingtan Raxing Team by Blackjack drivers Albert Jiang and Alex Sawer secured victories in the F4 Chinese Championship at the Ningbo International SpeedPark.
After races in Shanghai and Chengdu, the F4 Chinese Championship moved to Ningbo for the third round of the season. It was another event crowned with success for the team based in Ningbo and Zhuhai.
Friday’s qualifying sessions were highly contested, with competitors fighting for every inch of the track to obtain the fastest lap time. In the first qualifying session, Albert Jiang posted the second-best time, while Alex Sawer was the fourth fastest. In the second qualifying session, Albert Jiang secured pole position as his Vietnamese teammate finished fourth.
Saturday started with Albert Jiang finishing third in the first race, followed closely by Alex Sawer. Albert Jiang repeated the result in the second race as lex Sawer DNF.
On Sunday, Albert Jiang led from pole position to win the ninth round of the season. It was a convincing victory that showed the Chinese driver has title ambitions. Unfortunately, Alex Sawer didn’t have the same luck and was left out in the early stages.
For the final race of the weekend, the starting order was determined by the reverse order of the previous race. Albert Jiang was involved in a first-lap accident, which caused a safety car period. Alex Sawer inherited the first position and held off strong pressure from the cars behind to secure his second win in the series in just two appearances.
Competing for the Pingtan Raxing Team by ART, Allen Lu continued to gain experience behind the wheel of the Mygale M21-F4 car. Following a promising tenth-place finish in the second race on Saturday, Allen Lu achieved his best result in the series with a spectacular P7 finish on Sunday, along with third place in the CFGP class.
Chinese Taipei driver Richard Lin had modest expectations for the weekend as he made his debut in the only national single-seater series in China. It was a challenging start, but his effort and perseverance paid off. In the final race of the weekend, Richard Lin drove flawlessly, making no mistakes and earning a well-deserved second place in the Master class and ninth overall.
Commenting about the weekend, Jack Pang, the Team Principal of Blackjack Racing and Asia Racing Team, said: “What a weekend! The team worked tirelessly to prepare all four cars and dealt with many collision repairs and mechanical hurdles. They demonstrated the utmost resilience and professionalism. All the drivers made significant progress over the weekend, battling changing conditions. Congratulations on their achievements.”
After ten races in the season, Albert Jiang lies third in the Drivers Standings, one place ahead Alex Sawer. Pingtan Raxing Team by Blackjack is now third in the Teams’ standings.
