Jiang Fukang has been unveiled as the first confirmed driver with BlackJack Racing and Asia Racing Team in the 2024 FIA F4 Chinese Championship.
Competing under the banner of BlackJack Racing, the Zhuhai and Ningbo based team is making a full-time return to the Chinese national series following a successful season debut in the revitalized FIA F4 South East Asia with the second generation of FIA Formula 4 cars.
The Chinese driver Jiang Fukang is returning to the FIA F4 Chinese Championship after his successful appearance last year in the Zhuhai round, where he won the fourth race of the weekend. The former China Karting Championship driver also participated in the Shanghai round of the 2023 Open Formula Challenge with a Formula Regional car, winning race one and finishing second in race two. Additionally, he competed and impressed in the opening round of the FIA F4 South East Asia, securing second and third place finishes at the Zhuzhou International Circuit.
Launched in 2015, the FIA F4 Chinese Championship has been the platform for introducing new local talents in recent years. With the introduction of the new Mygale F4 car, the championship also aims to establish itself as a competition capable of attracting drivers from all over the world. The access to championship half-million prize money will help to offset the costs of the racing season.
Reflecting on the announcement on his move to BlackJack Racing, Jiang Fukang exclaimed, “This marks a new beginning for China F4, with a new car and the return of the Chinese F1 Grand Prix support event this year. I’m really excited; everyone will start from scratch. Exploring the unknown will be truly interesting. The new Mygale M21-F4 car is great compared to the previous generation. The brakes have seen significant improvement and cars are now more powerful.
“As for Blackjack, we are old friends, and we trust each other. I believe they will do a great job. Hopefully, we can make this year an extraordinary adventure.”
Team Principal Jack Pang added, “We are delighted to have Jiang Fukang join us for 2024. After some impressive performances last season, we are confident he will be a front-runner this year. 2024 is a key moment for both the F4 China championship and us. We are committed to provide the best services and the most professional environment for our fledgling Asian drivers.”
The season begins at the Shanghai International Circuit with two races as part of the highly anticipated Chinese Formula One Grand Prix weekend on April 19-21. The championship then moves to the state-of-the-art Tianfu Chengdu International Circuit in May for a four-race weekend, followed by a visit to the home ground Ningbo SpeedPark International. After the summer break, the championship returns to the Shanghai F1 circuit, and the season concludes at the Zhuhai International Circuit in October.
